Prévaloir

by Scott Duncan

/

about

Written for Luke Gregory. In conversation, Brett mentioned that his son Luke had a few obstacles to overcome. I certainly did at that time as well. So, I dedicated the song to Luke. The title is French for 'prevail'.

This was the first guitar tune I wrote after breaking my wrist in January, 2012. It is the last guitar tune I have written since breaking my wrist. My friend and teacher Brett helped me with some hand exercises to get me through.

There are 2 guitar parts. The primary force of the song is the finger picking and strumming. The second part is slap harmonics and accents. (Thank you Michael Hedges - for making it fashionable to smack the heck of of one's guitar...)
